During my time as a next generation candidate with McDonald’s there are many lessons to be learned, both operational and organizational. While spending time in the stores, attending training classes and benchmarking with other operators can teach you the skills necessary to run a successful location, the skills needed to operate a franchise will be learned outside of the restaurant. I had the pleasure of working with the team at Antares Group for five years while working for my family. When choosing a CPA you will look at many factors including knowledge of the McDonald’s system, reputation, accessibility and your overall rapport. Not only were they helpful with managing our financial services but helped me through the financial assessment process with McDonald’s every step of the way. Services like a next generation orientation, back office training and final preparation for your financial skills assessment helped me fully understand the implications of going into business for yourself. I could not have felt better prepared for my final meeting with the financial director and found myself able to have an intelligent, back and forth conversation with her.
